  MPEG2 editing issue

  I am I have some raw unedited footage and the video format I have been given is MPEG-2 codec. When I imported into FCP for editing… no audio.
  The original video contains audio. What format should I import it so I can edit the audio and video and at the same time maintain the quality of the footage with conversion?

  Use compressor to convert it to ProRes if you are on FCP 6 or above.
