live Switcher
Posted by Joseph Wilkins on May 3, 2010 at 11:00 pmHello,
I have a project that requires a live HD switcher.
I basically need to cut between 3 1080 p cameras and record to a single stream cutting live from camera to camera.
Is there anyway to do this without spending tens of thousands?
My budget is more line 1 or 2 grand
thanks

May 3, 2010 at 11:22 pmRent a flypack switcher.
What about audio?
What about intercoms to the cams?
What about matching the video levels for the cams?Scott Sheriff

May 4, 2010 at 1:07 amI love it when all three camera’s have the exact same shot.
It’s almost as much fun as when they all decide to check their focus at the same time!Scott Sheriff

It’s called “Wirecast” and Telestream bought them awhile ago.

They even have a forum here on the cow.
You should also check out “Boinx” software. Same concept, but cheaper.

May 4, 2010 at 3:44 amwhile that software looks cool for what it does, getting (3) 1080p camera feeds into a single system is the trick. That is a presentation switcher verses a production switcher, just make sure it does what you really need.

May 4, 2010 at 11:26 amIs there a reason why you can’t just record each camera, capture and then do your “live” vision mix in multicam? Is it time pressure?
Matt.
