    Hello,

    I really need help with an audio sync issue. I found similar threads but none that match up to my problem.

    We received an audio mix and when I import it into Final Cut it is 20 frames longer than my video which results in the audio being out of sync after I drop it into my timeline.

    I tried using Soundtrack Pro to convert the audio from 16bit to 32bit Floating Point so that it matches the timeline audio format but that didn’t work.

    Does this sound familiar to anyone?

    The audio needs to be 16 or 24bit (which doesn’t affect timing) and 48kHz sample rate (which can). Of course your problem could be related to other issues such as your program being cut in a 23.976 (23.98) timeline and the audio shop set at 24. It’s helpful to provide more background on your situation – what codec used, framerate, etc.

    We figured it out. It seems the audio mixer had some sort of “audio delay” option enabled in Pro Tools. This caused the audio to be out of sync.

    For your edification, 32 bit floating point is the internal processing rate of the FCP sequence and not the clip bit depth. As John Has said 16 or 24 bit 48Khz is best. Do not make clips at a higher bit depth than 24.

    FCP outputs 24 bit from the 32 bit float internal. Higher bit rates with floating point processing are used on audio to reduce distortion created in changing levels, EQ and dynamics processing.
