  • Using FCP On MacPro without Monitor

    Hi all,

I’m trying to use FCP (or even just compressor for that matter) on a MacPro that doesn’t have a monitor hooked up to it.

The problem is, when I try to launch it, it tells me that I have no VRAM installed on the system… which isn’t really true as there is a 256MB ATI Radeon HD in it, and when I go into about this mac, it says 256mb vram total.

Any thoughts on how to get around this? I’m trying to use the MacPro and an exporting from FCP and compressor computer.

    Thanks!

You might look at a KVM switch to have a monitor connected when FCP boots then switch monitor to whatever station after the task is assigned. I’m assuming you are driving the headless station with share screen?
without a monitor connected to the DVI port FCP assumes is no GFX card installed.

Or you could buy a really cheap monitor to hook up.
