hdv m10u deck not recognized anymore
I have a Sony M-10U HDV Deck. Final Cut Pro v. 5.1.4 and a G5 v. 10.4.11, Dual 2 Ghz wt. 4 GB DDR SDRAM
I have used this setup for years and then all of a sudden it just stopped recognizing the deck. The deck turns on and is fine. I have tried multiple input formats and Final Cut will not recognize it.
Suggestions?

Trash preferences and fix permissions.
Pull the plug out of the wall on the deck, then plug it in again.

Please search “permissions” using the forum search function. It’s asked and answered nearly every day, and every FCP editor must know how to do it. You will remember it if you find the answer yourself.

Thanks, I did search the forums and didn’t see anything that matched up with what i need to know. My computer is not recognizing the deck in the firewire connections tab. I repaired permissions on my Mac HD, but couldn’t do it on my Lacie Externals. I don’t mind researching at all, but if you could possibly email me the link I would appreciate it.

If the Mac itself isn’t seeing the deck it’s most likely a hardware problem. Either the FW port on your deck is bad, the FW port on your Mac you are trying to use is bad or the FW cable you are trying to use is bad.
