    Hi all-
I’ve been working on a feature-lenght documentary project and have an hour long sequence in FCP. The media is stored on two external harddrives connected via FW800. Today when I try to open the project, it loads fine. I can see as the various sequences pop up that everything is connected. Then I get the prompt that some media files are offline – this is no problem, a few files have been deleted over the course of the project and it only shows a handful missing.

When I hit continue, suddenly all the media in the timelines that resides on one of the external drives goes offline. If I try to reconnect, it says “unspecified path” and does not seem to even recognize the name of the clip or the parent clip.

-I’ve tried older autosaved versions of the project. Same problem.
-I’ve trashed the preferences. No luck.
-I’ve run DiskWarrior on the problem drive. Still no luck.
-I moved the media from the problem drive, reformatted, then moved it back. No luck.

Furthermore, most of the time that I try to open the project, it gets hung up and frozen so I can’t even attempt to reconnect manually (which will take days given the number of clips).
Does anyone have any suggestions? They would be much appreciated as I am pretty desperate.

Are you daisy chaining the drives? Do you have a deck also hooked up by firewire? Try hooking both drives up to separate ports?
