Is anyone using “The Levelator” to help even out the audio levels on their FCP projects? I’m going to try it out but was hoping for a few tips. Should I export an AIFF of just the dialog tracks, without any music in the mix? Would it work if the music is in the mix?

    Thanks,
    James

The Levelator is designed to process spoken word. Export your dialog tracks, process, and reincorporate into your project.

I just started using it for sermon videos for my church, but just my pastor’s mic channel during the sermon. I simply export the audio to an AIF, run it through Levelator and paste it back in.

But I’m pretty sure Levelator was designed for spoken words. I wouldn’t recommend it for music.

I’m a bit anal about audio. I spend a lot of time “leveling” tracks. Since finding the Levelator, I’ve been letting it do the heavy lifting. It’s a terrific program. Donate if you can (I have no connection with Levelator).

I use Levelator all the time.
    It does a great job.

The manual (or what every you want to call the page or two they include) says that is is for voice onlu, not music.
