  DVCAM Deck Problems

  So I’ve had this Sony DVCAM Deck (DSR-11) for two years and it’s never given me a problem. Well, today it stopped working. I hooked up a new Panasonic HPX170 for import and afterwards the DVCAM deck wouldn’t work on output. I’ve gone through everything I can think of.

  I’ve…

  1. Trashed all preferences
  2. Reset everything to match DV/NTSC
  3. Hooked DVCAM deck up to another computer (doesn’t work)
  4. Hooked up another DV Deck to FCP, it does work
  5. Tried different cable
  6. Zapped the pram

  Now here’s the weird part. If I play a tape in the deck it’s fine. The computer is recognizing the deck in the system profiler. But get this, the deck will not play back from the timeline, but it’ll capture footage. What the heck is that about? I tried it on two separate computers.

  And yes, I reset the deck.

  Any ideas?

  I fixed it. INPUT SELECT Switch was set to VIDEO as opposed to DV. Must have gotten hit in the shuffle of decks.
