Ok I tried and it works, now fcp “sees” it as 25fps, but when editing only the audio is at sync, while the video is out of sync in the timeline, but in sync when I export the video. So my main problem is still I can’t have the avi file able for editing.
I’m still doubtful about:
1) Why compressor understands both from the original avi file AND from the QTpro saved file that it is 25fps and not 24/21?
2) Why only some of the files I converted were wrongly interpreted by fcp?
3) Why after the conversion the new file according to fcp has one or two frames more than the original?
After some analysis, it seems it’s a problem of MB/sec rather than fps, that leads fcp to interpret the files with a wrong fps rate. I made a short list of the files with mpeg streamclip info function:
