  Audio Filter to Correct Music Distortion?

  I have a music track that was recorded live a bit too loud. There is distortion. Is there a filter that I can use to try and reduce the distortion level? What settings should I focus on to change?

  Digital distortion cannot be corrected. you can mask it by applying more noise but, sadly, it’s rather like trying to recover image pixels from a terribly overexposed scene. There just isn’t data in your file, it’s all been crushed.

  Umm, that’s what I think I know. Hopefully someone will come by with a creative solution of which I am ignorant.

  Checkout iZotope RX. It has a de-clipper module. Depending on the amount of clipping it can help. Listen to the de-clipping example on the home page.
