  720 30fps to 1080i 25fps conversion problem

  I’m editing HDV 1080i 25fps and am trying to use a shot I bought from iStock – the clip is 720, 30fps. I’ve created a new clip with my sequence settings, from the original, to use in my sequence, and also tried dropping the original into the sequence directly (then rendering) but whenever I play back the clip in the canvas, or as an export, what is supposed to be a shot of a smooth pan playsback jerky. How can I get the clip to play nicely and convert to 25fps without losing that ‘smoothness’?

  NOTE – at first the clip was converting to my settings from QT but showed up in FCP as 30fps still. One way round this was to convert the original clip to an image sequence and then make a 25fps 1080i clip from that – same end problem in FCP/exports though.

  All suggestions gratefully received.

  James,
  A solution is to Comform in CinemaTools the p30 as p25. No rendering.
  For the upscaling use Compressor.
