  • Digibeta to DVCProHD via AJ-HD1200 or 1400?

Working on an archival project, shooting new material on the HVX900 (720p)

A lot of the archive is on Digibeta. Is it possible to upres Digibeta to DVCProHD (720p) through the AJ-HD1200 or 1400 in one pass? This would be SDI in and firewire out E-E, capturing directly into FCP?

    Hi John,
I haven’t got a AJ-HD1200/1400, but I’ve bee reading the specs in the PANASONIC web site.
I don’t see the the possibility o ingesting SD through SDI and up-convert on recording.
The brochures talk about up-scaling when playing SD DVPro tapes to DVCProHD.
Any way I may be wrong.
A capture card (AJA, BM) would do the job.

I don’t think that these decks play digiBeta tapes.

You can buy a Kona 3 or Io HD, then rent a digiBeta deck and use the Kona or Io to upconvert.

What they said…the decks don’t upconvert. YOu need to go through the AJA hardware or MXO2.

Thanks for this, folks. Just for the record, I have access to a Digibeta as a source player, wasn’t suggesting that the Panasonic would accept the Digibeta tapes.
