Red Cam IOHD FINALCUT TIMECODE
I am a video assist in toronto. with the red cam there is no timecode display when the dp is using the evf and the ac is using the onboard monitor.
my iohd sees the red timecode through the sdi out. final cut does not register the timecode when capturing.
is there a way to rectify this?
i often need a timecode source to scroll to an accurate point on the capture for playback.

Use AJA VTR Exchange. It’s free.

Final Cut only supports timecode capture when there is deck control enabled. AJA tool should work though.

except vtr exchange jumps and skips on playback, and clips from it do not import into fcp properly. Its nearly the answer. hopefully FCS 3.0 will be the answer!

The you have something setup incorrectly. I use VTR Exchange all the time to capture ProRes or HQ material that is used as master footage for multiple cameras (never done it from a red, but if it’s 720p video, the ioHD will capture it). Check the audio and video settings of VTR Exchange.

Operator error.
RED VO does not support anything other than 720p59.94 or 720p5.
stop trying to capture at 24p and it should work just fine.

What codec/setting are you trying to capture to and what disk drive do you have?

720p 59.94 onto a lacie dt 1.5tb or a caldigit s2vr into prores 422

express 34 card to esata

And are those fw800 drives? Do you have a fw800 Express 34 card?
