  • Why does my camera keep flipping around?

Posted by Mark Pybus on June 19, 2007 at 7:05 pm

    hello there,

I’m trying to rapidly zoom in and then back out, however, my camera keeps flipping around and facing the other way when I start the move back out.

I’m sure I’m missing something quite simple, but I can’t for the life of me figure it out.

    Thanks!

Try moviing the camera Point of Interest further away. You may be getting too close and the camera is turning its head.

You also might try using a 3d null to controll the camera’s movement.

    Or switch off layer>transform>auto-orient.

Simplest method to control the point of interest with a Null Object. That way you can control what the camera is looking at in the Active camera view.

Create a Null Object, make it 3D, reveal the position for the Null, reveal the Point of Interest for the Camera and alt+click (Macintosh; Option + Click) on the Point of interest and drag the pick whip to the Null position.

Now you can place the null where you want the camera to look.

Fantastic! The null did the trick.

    Thanks again.

Turning off auto-orient worked perfectly. Thanks so much!!
