Is there such thing as a control interface for cc in final cut
or color that costs under $ 1,000?the cheapest one is about 3,000
the really nice one for color about 7,000

A trackball mouse maybe.
I use a Wacom Tablet with Color.

I was interested in the Wacom’s Cintiq 12WX which lets you display the FCP 3 way CC and use the pen on that screen. It can be mounted horizontally. I assume it would work with Color as well. Not sure if it is under your price radar.

Nope, that won’t work for color at all I don’t think. 12.1″ display? Have you tried looking at color on a 15″ laptop? Darn near impossible to view.
Personally I would put that $999 towards a regular tablet and very good monitor.

I believe the Tangent Wave is out for around $1800. More than $1k but under $3k.

Walter- what do you use to get the mouse scroll wheel functionality with the tablet (I presume you are using the pen).

The Tangent Wave has a USB interface, which not currently supported by Color. Color only supports Ethernet interface controllers.

While $3k will buy you the the JL Cooper Spectrum, which is what I think you are referring to, it is useless w/o dropping another $2k on the JL Cooper MCS-3000 which is the ‘brain’ that the Spectrum needs to be coupled with. Even though a Wacom isn’t as good as a dedicated control surface it is much better than a mouse.

True – doesn’t work with Color yet…let’s hope it will soon!
But it should work with FCP and Chris seemed open to finding a control that will work with FCP if I read his post correctly.

Yep wacom better then mouse. Not only for Color or FCP CC but in general!
Have a look at the Shuttle Xpress (https://www.contourdesign.com/shuttlepro/shuttlexpress.htm) as an addition to the wacom. I couldn’t live without it now because you can have different settings for different tasks.
A. as a jog/shuttle
B. as a scroll-wheel to control the sliders in the FCP effects tab.
C. as a scroll-wheel to control values in Color
D. use buttons to call certain functions or shortcuts
E…
And you can program a button to switch between settings.I organized my desk in a way that I use the pen to hover the pointer over a value/slider and with the left hand use the shuttle to scroll. Very fast!
