February 19, 2009 at 3:45 pmTangent told me at IBC they were waiting for an update in Color to add the ‘hooks’ for the Wave – I had the impression they saw it as the primary software platform for it. I think Tangent were hoping it would be included in the update to Color that bought the “RED room”.
If it’s still not supported that must be as disappointing for Tangent as it is for me.

February 19, 2009 at 5:21 pmOne thing I would highly suggest is waiting until NAB unless you absolutely have to have the control surface right now.
No, I have no idea what is coming out, but since we’re so close to April I’m hoping somebody is going to come out with a high quality control surface at a lower price. It’s been two years since Apple starting giving away the software so I’m hopeful that maybe someone is going to come along and give us a something nice that is under $5,000 to $15,000.
The Wave is a nice start, but I want to see what other folks might come up with. I would really like to get at least one control surface here too, but until I see the right mix of performance and price, I’m holding out. The Tablet works great for now, but a control surface will surely speed things up.

Note also that if there is enough legitimate interest, there is a real probablility of additional support being added for “Flash-to-flash” (non timeline) Spirit telecine support (color, pans, transport).
