  HDV and Firewire in FCP

  Can you firewire from a HDV camcorder (like the Z7u) and capture into another codec other than HDV. I heard mention of folks going directly to ProRes. I thought they were useing a Kona or Decklink but I am almost sure they said firewire capture. Maybe they were changing the sequence settings after HDV capture. I just wanted to be sure.

  newer versions of fcp 6.03 and later i think do.

  and of course a decklink or aja card will transcode
  on the fly during capture over component or sdi.
