  importing 1080i 60i into 1080i 30p project

  I am trying to import some 1080i 60i video into a project that is 1080p 30p. I have tried importing with the following settings without success:
  Sequence Preset – 1080p 30
  Capture Preset HDV
  Device Control Preset – HDV firewire (I have also tried firewire NTSC)
  Video Playback – Missing Apple Firewire NTSC (720×480) – I realize this is the wrong setting, but the only other settings options are Digital Cinema Desktop Preview or None.

  The video I am trying to import was shot on a Cannon HV20

  Any help would be appreciated

  I think it’s because you can’t convert interlaced footage to progressive footage on the import, or at least it’s not a good idea to.

  I would capture it with 1080 60i settings and then convert to 1080 30p in Compressor or with a Kona3 card if you have one.

  I don’t have a kona card…so any other solutions you can thin of? Will FCP allow me to import at 1080 30p and then drop into timeline and render?

  Since you don’t have a Kona card I would bring your 1080 60i footage into Compressor and export it as 1080 30p. I don’t know if you can do the conversion in FCP, but even if you can, Compressor will still do a better job.
