Optimal settings in FCP when destination is DVDSP?
When mastering a show shot and edited as DVCpro25, what’s the optimal final format to render it for use in DVDSP?

DVCPro 25 is just fine. Just export as “Current Settings” and turn your quality way up in Compressor.

Make sure your field order is correct and turn the quality sliders up as far as you feel comfortable. Start with the High Quality 90 minute DVD settings and go into the controls and turn up the quality. If you have a DVD-RW around, those are great so you can burn some test DVDs for quality tests. Sometimes if you go too far on the quality settings the disc will skip and stutter so you just dial back a bit until you get optimal quality and optimal playback.
Personally we use BitVice when we want absolute maximum quality on a DVD. The quality of those MPEG-2 files are superior to Compressor, even using Compressor’s highest quality settings. And it takes advantage of all 8 cores on the Mac without needing to invoke QMaster.

you don’t see artifacts with titles doing it that way?
I figure thats too close to DV compression to take a chance.
