I’m about to buy a new Intel MacBook and I just have a few questions that I haven’t been able to find sufficient answers to:

Can I run Final Cut Pro HD (4.5) on the new MacBook?

Can I run Adobe CS2(Photoshop, Illustrator)?

Can I run After Effects 6.5?

In other words, I’d rather not spend money on updates if I don’t have to.

    Thanks.

illustrator cs2 will run on an intel mac, i’ve been running it for 6 months on a mac pro with no issues to speak of.

ae6.5 should run as well as ae7 which i have been running for the same amount of time. there are problems with opengl accelerated effects and cycore effects that are bundled with ae, but it works well if you avoid those.

    fcp, i don’t have.

i might consider buying a used powerbook, though… if you don’t want to upgrade your software to universal binaries, why upgrade to an intel mac? i’m not sure how big of a performance upgrade you are going to get without the ub software. or are you planning to upgrade later when you have the funds?

I’ve got both a Macbook and 20″iMac, I’d forget about running FCP on the Macbook not unless you get a MacBook Pro, AE 7 and PS CS2 also run slowly on my Macbook and great on the iMac.

If you have the money get yourself the MacBook Pro (if the laptop is what you want)

    My 2 Cents anyway

FCP 4.5 won’t run on the mac book pro. I found out the hard way. It requires AGP graphics. The macbook pro uses PCI. You’ll have to upgrade to 5.1.1.
