    Hello,

    I’ve got a problem and have yet to find a solution after extensive searching.
    I was trying to fix a corrupted sequence in FCP 6.0.4 and almost had it working again by removing the capture files and reopening the sequence. After having problems reconnecting the media, I restarted the computer,
    After booting up, I could no longer open FCP. All it does is bounce once in the dock, then nothing. No error, no warning, no spinning beach ball. I’ve trashed the preferences, repaired permissions, tried FCP Rescue 6. Nothing has worked so far.

    I’m using a Dual 2.8 Quad with 2 GB ram OS 10.5.4, FYI.

    Thanks in advanced!

    Hi Patrick,
    I have the same problem.
    Did you ever get this resolved?
    If so, how?
    Much appreciated,
    Fred

    Fred,

    Always try these three things. If they don’t work then come back for other ideas.

    1. Trash Preferences
    2. Use Disk Utility Permissions
    3. Run Disk Warrior on your system drive. If you don’t have Disk Warrior, get it, as sometimes it’s the only fix there is.

    Hi David,
    thank you for your response!
    Used attic to trash prefs;
    repaired disk permissions;
    used Disk Warrior to repair directory (13%);
    still FCB will not launch, neither from dock nor apps.
    What else can we do?

    [Fred Vanderpoel] “What else can we do?”

    That’s not sounding good Fred. You may probably be in for a reinstall. Here’s what I’d do…

    1) Backup all of your FCP project files to a safe drive, CD, thumb drive, etc., just so they are never in any jeopardy for any reason. Of course, you do that regularly anyway, right?

    2) Get FCS Remover at https://www.digitalrebellion.com/fcs_remover.htm and run it.

    3) Trash Preferences again.

    4) Repair permissions again.

    5) Run Disk Warrior again.

    6) Reinstall FCS2.

    7) Run Apple Software Update over and over again until you get the message your software is up to date.

    Hope this helps.

    David
