Anybody know how to “batch” change a parameter in the the motion tab for multiple clips?
I somehow got my edit in trouble!
    Cheers

Change the settings on one clip. Copy that clip with a right-click and “copy.” Now highlight all the clips you wish to change, right-click on those and use copy attributes — basic motion.

Also Carl, there is a searchable help feature in FCP and a a search here on the Cow as well. Please get used to giving them a try before posting your questions.

If you ever have to change a parameter that won’t go with “paste attributes” (such as a sub-category) you can export XML, find that parameter in the XML file, and global change it there. Then re-import the XML, and you’ll have the change on all those clips.

Just a note about your first reply – the command is “paste attributes” – then you do the check box for basic motion. This is one of my very favorite FCP commands!

great tips guys thanks. both the paste attributes and the xml import methods are invaluable. I now have a flattened 1080i50 movie that looks something like the quality I remember seeing when shooting.

Wow, This is a great tip. How did I not know about this feature! Just saved me a ton of time on a commercial!

I appreciate the help on the Cow, but the FCP Searchable help is so screwy in that you may be searching for a concept, but the term Apple wants you to use is unknown, or more likely, convoluted. This is why the Cow is such a great resource.
