I am having trouble combining 2 types of media on an SD timeline. I am bringing an HD Quicktime spot (codec: Apple ProIO vout 2vvy imdc integer Big Endain timecode) into an SD timeline with existing spots on it. The timeline was set up as uncompressed 8 bit 4:2:2. When I bring in the HD Quicktime spot and render it I get bad looking video and jagged edges on the graphics. Also, when I export for burning onto DVD, the shots are squeezed. Amy suggestions? Thanks.

Well, where are you getting that? I have never heard of that format before.

is your HD spot progressive or interlaced? Is your SD timeline progressive or interlaced?

It is 1080 24p and SD 8bit interlaced. Does this present a problem?

How are you monitoring picture? How does it look when your Canvas is at 100%?

Where did this clip come from? Getting Info tells very little. I have never heard of that codec.

Mixing Progressive and Interlaced can be tricky…depends on what your sequence settings are. What are the main sequence settings? What is the main footage and what are you adding to that? Meaning, is the sequence HD and you are adding SD, or is it SD and you are adding HD?

[Jeff Weiser] “Does this present a problem?”

Yes as you are trying to mix frame rates. You need to add pulldown to your HD spot in After Effects or with a plug in like Fields Kit.
