I’ve done this many times before, but this is the first time I’ve run into this problem. Honestly, I’m not sure if this is an issue with AE or FCP, but I suspect the latter, which is why I pose the question here.

I’ve exported a short clip (a little under 2 seconds long) from FCP, using the current settings (DV NTSC, 29.97 FPS). I bring it into AE, where I can see it’s still 29.97. I do my work there, render it, then export it as a Quicktime, maintaining the settings, and I can SEE it is still set to 29.97.

It exports, but when I import it back into FCP… it’s arriving as 23.98 FPS! If I open that same clip up in Quicktime player, the inspector shows me that it is in fact 29.97. So why is it arriving in FCP incorrectly?

Anyone have a clue? I’m really pulling my hair out here. Thanks for any help!

And I realize now my subject line is a little misleading… this is a frame rate issue, not really a time code issue.
