Hi, I’m trying to burn a SD project that I have to DVD. I believe there is some way to insert DVD chapter markers into a longer project so that it can be recognized by a burning when I export.

How can I insert these markers? What program should I use to burn my disc & are there any steps I should know about to make this work properly?

Once again, Thanks a lot for the help.

Duplicate your Sequence in FCP and use the Dupe for the DVD if you want to leave your original “unaltered.”

    1. Delete all markers: Mark > Markers > Delete All.

    2. Park the cursor in the Timeline EXACTLY where you want the first chapter marker.

    3. Make sure to “DE-select ALL” (Shift-Apple-A) so no timeline files are highlighted.

    4. Hit the “m” key TWICE. It will leave a marker on the timeline.

    5. Click “Add Chapter Marker”

    6. In TOP Box: Type a Chapter Name (and Number (1. 2. 3.) if wanted).

    7. Click OK

Move Cursor to where you want the next Chapter to begin and Repeat steps 4 thru 8.

Continue until all Chapters are marked. (Don’t forget to hit “Save”, just in case.)

    A. Choose File > Export > QT Movie.

    B. In the pop-up menu, choose Markers > “Chapter Markers” then Save.

    C. After the export, drop that exported QT movie file into a newly-opened blank iDVD window.

    D. Make any menu style and name changes in iDVD and burn, baby, burn.
