  PSD import

  We are having problem on a FCP-machine (Studio 2), when importing PSD files (layered files), it comes in as text (Bin: ABC), but when we try the exact same PSD file on another machine, it works perfectly with a new sequence with all the layers, so the PSD file is OK.

  We have tried deleting the Pref-files and deleting the Cache memory, but it didn’t help.

  The ONLY difference is, that there ain’t any Photoshop program on the machine, but should that be necessary to make a proper import ?

  Any suggestions will be appreciated 😉

  I an also having a problem with the .psd import, BUT here is what I do know. I imported a .psd file from the Advanced Color Correction and Effects in Final Cut Pro – DVD Apple Certified training book/course that worked fine. I do NOT have Photoshop of my editing MacPro Dual Core. But when I create a .psd on another PC and another Mac – no good. It comes in as a flattened pic. I’m at a loss!

  Did you ever figure anything out??

  Here is one thing I have noticed. I can import a single pict file with an alpha channel. So, I just have to break out the psd into all of it’s layers, and import them separately. Kind of a pain, but at least I can get the job done.

  Another thought I have not checked on: I am using some old Photoshop 5 software, on both the Mac and the PC. I wonder if an upgrade to 7 would allow the psd to import?

  What Photshop version are you running?
