    Hi I’m trying to play a Hvx200 video 720p 30 frames on a Monitor from FCP6.
    I have a G5 2.7 FCP6 AJA IO LA
It plays ok on the Mac Monitor in the Canvas sequence viewer but not on my other Monitors. composite and component out.
I’m trying out a Panasonic LCD monitor
Could it be the Hard Drive speed?
Betacam footage plays ok on the monitors.
    Only 1 sequence up.
I’ve played around with the FCP Prefs
could this be because I need a new driver from AJA or a HD AJA box?
I had this problem before when I tried to play uncompressed video.
    Any clues appreciated
    Thanks
    Peter

YOu are trying to play HD footage out on an SD capture card. The AJA I/O LA is an SD card. You’ll need a Kona card or AJA I/O HD.

Thanks Shane I started to suspect that but I thought I might see it some how. So the big decision is which AJA and should I buy? and do I really need the next G5 intel? and when?
I’ve still got other MACs with Media 100s lying around and it seems a waste to keep buying. Timing is every thing. I plan on going into HD with the P2 system. Just DVCPROHD.
    Thanks for your quick response.

[peter hitchcock] “So the big decision is which AJA and should I buy?”

Depends on your needs. Go to aja.com and see what all the models do. They all have different capabilities.

[peter hitchcock] “and do I really need the next G5 intel?”

Not really. They sell PCI-X cards…Kona 3X and Kona LH.

Thanks Shane I read your article on Matrox for monitoring. Hopefully I can do better with AJA

Also, in a pinch, I think you may be able to monitor through the camera: FCP external video set to FW > 1394 > HVX200 component out, if you have analog input HD monitor.
