  DVCPRO HD & AVCHD as a multiclip

  Hi all:

  I’m not sure if this thread has been covered in the past. My question is has anyone been successful in making a multiclip (FCP 6) using clips from both an HVX200 (720P 24PN) and video shot using AVCHD ? It looks pretty good just cutting in clips on top of my HVX footage, but I haven’t been successful in making a four camera multiclip (2 HVX200’s & 2 SD-1’s)

  Transcode the AVCHD materail to DVCPROHD… then create the multiclip from the new file.

  Hi Jerry:
  Thanks for the very quick response. I just want to be clear on this. Are you saying that I should capture the AVCHD footage directly to DVCPROHD, or that I should capture the AVCHD footage into FCP and then export that footage to DVCPRO?

  If you can capture directly to ProRes(have the capture card, Mac and drive space available) that’s optimum.

  Otherwise you need to transcode to it after you transfer it natively.

  Thanks Jerry for your help.

  What I ended up doing was to start off with DVCPRO HD as my sequence settings. I then captured the AVCHD footage, dropped it onto the timeline, rendered it then exported it out QT as DVCPRO HD and then imported it back into my browser.

  When I set in and out points on both clips and made it into a multiclip, it worked great.
