    Hello,

I’m having a problem with a HVR-M15N (Hdv player). I working on a G4 1GHz and when I open Final Cut Pro 5.1.4, it doesn’t connect to the player. But when I open the Log and Capture window I can control de player but can’t get no image. The strange thing is when I use iMovie it connect perfect. Is there anything that I can do to fix this? So that I can use it on FCP.

We use this deck almost every day with FCP.

My guess is that you’re trying to capture DV footage but your deck is set up in HDV mode, or vice versa. Also, you need to set up your iLink control to DV if you’re in DV mode and HDV if you’re in HDV mode.

I’ve Tried everything and it still doesn’t connect. I teste on a G5 and it worked ok. The this is that I can’t get it to connect on the FCP on the G4 machine. Could it be firmware or something?

This has happened to me before…trash your fcp preferences and restart the program…hope that helps.

On another note…have you figured how to caputre HDV downconverted to DV in a letterbox format from that deck?

    That’s in the iLink controls.

I’m not in the shop today, but I know both of our 15’s are set up for letterbox and I’m all but certain it’s in the iLink downconvert setup.

Ok… Thank you guys for the tips but i’ved tried everything and nothing worked… for some reason the player is not comunicating with FCP. I even reinstall FCP but no success. The strange thing is that when I use iMovie it works normaly on any mode, HDV or DV. My last option is to format the G4 and reinstall everything. I hope it works. I’ll tell you guys later.

    Thanks for everything!

I hate to see you forced to do that…i would be curious if that worked, because it sounds like software not hardware and that would mean either a setting issue or trashing prefs…

    Sorry I couldn’t be more helpful…GL.

Thanks Walter…I appreciate you checking on this…I’ve looked in teh ILINK controls and don’t see letterbox. I’ve got an HVR-M15U…Maybe that’s only an option in the m15N…let me know if you see it some place I’m missing.

    Thanks Again.

    [nsmagic] “‘ve got an HVR-M15U”

that’s the same machine we have. According to Sony’s specs on the M15 and M25 product line, the iLink features are common to all machines.
