I have a G5 with a blackmagic HD card running FCP 6 and i mostly work with 8 bit uncompressed footage. I’ve never had a problem in the past until today when i opened my project and it said “codec not found. You may be using a compression type without the corresponding hardware card.” So i uninstalled and reseeded the blackmagic card. Uninstalled and reinstalled FCP and still said the same thing. The only thing i could think of was quicktime. When i tried opening even an HDV clip the screen was white and it couldn’t play the clip. I unistalled and reinstalled that and still nothing. I was wondering if you could help. Maybe i should download quicktime pro vs. 7.2?. Thank you

Check to see what QT components you have in the Library/QuickTime folder. If you have another system with FCP on it, compare the folders. If you’re missing anything, copy the files that you’re missing over.
