This is so weird. I have FCP version 5.0.4 running on a G5 powermac running OSX version 10.3.9.

A few weeks ago, I edited a project in HighDef everything went swimmingly. Then the next project I worked on was in SD (a project shot on miniDV) and my preview wouldn’t work and I could not render in the preview. It acted as if the Caps lock was on. I could not render anything.

I did find a work around. To check on an effect I have to shuttle across the effect frame by frame. I can get the project in decent shape, but to view it as a whole I have to export as a quicktime file and view it that way. It works, but it is a pain and eats my time.

I have looked for ever and havn’t see where anybody has had this problem before. I have gone back and reset all my preferances to SD.

I thought it might be a capture issue, but I tested both fresh captured files as well as things captured before this happened.

oh yeah the viewer’s color is green instead of the grey and white checker pattern.

    Thanks!

delete all your FCP prefs and restart – should take care of green

check where you are telling FCP to render. You might have permission problems on that folder, or the disk is full.
