FCP 6 loosing render files
Posted by Mark Maness on July 22, 2007 at 8:20 pmHey gang…
This is really starting to p*** me off. FCP 6.01 seems to keep loosing my render files everytime I open a timeline. Sometimes its just a couple of render files, sometimes its the entire timeline. What’s the deal?
I have a program that has lots of filters on it (artsy thing…) and it takes about 6 hours to render the 28 min program. I have a Mac Pro Quad 3.0 system with 8 gig of RAM. So, you can see where this would drive me crazy.
Has anyone seen this?
YES, I have trashed the prefs almost weekly.

July 22, 2007 at 8:39 pmWe have been loosing renders when we export a frame from the timeline. Haven’t seen the problem when opening.

July 22, 2007 at 9:13 pmI’ve had the problem consistently with 3 Intel machines. Happens when I duplicate sequences. Seems to be a problem that affects some, but not all users. Use the Provide Feedback tab and report the bug to Apple.

July 22, 2007 at 11:16 pmThis is very troubling guys but unfortunately true. It is happening to us on a job that I’m on. When you duplicate a sequence the duolicated sequence does not render. However what is even more puzzling is that we have some sequences that are orginals that have blur filters on them and it will randomly pick out certain sequences and not render them.
One thing is for certain…I’m not upgrading until apple sorts this out!
Thanks

July 23, 2007 at 10:55 amI’m on a G5, not Intel…getting the same thing with duplicated sequences.
If I create a new sequence, then copy/paste into it instead, it doesnt happen. The renders stay linked.

July 23, 2007 at 1:27 pmWell, I have noticed this with duplicated sequences, BUT my issue isn’t with this. Mine is the main sequence. I edit my program until completion then duplicate the sequence to make a DVD copy for preview.
This has been occurring since FCP6.

Hey Wayne
I’ve had the same issues…
One workaround that I’ve discovered is to restore my project to the last autosave file and it relinks my renders.
cheers,

I’ve experienced this from the first day I upgraded to 6.0 and it continues with 6.01. I’ve talked with my equipment supplier and Apple Canada reps and nobody has any answers.
