I need to play a movie for a screening, I am thinking I would just make a pro res QuickTime with 5.1 aac in compressor. Does anyone know if this will work and anything I might need to do. I have never made a QT with 5.1 or used the opticle port so any info would be geatly apreaciated.

    Thanks!

Why wouldn’t you simply create a DVD with Dolby 5.1 tracks?

Connect the optical cable to an amp or stereo receiver that has an optical port. Make sure that in your System Preferences – Sound that you select your Output as Digital Out.

It should work like a charm.
