Is there a way to create the itunes artwork scroll effect in FCP studio 2 or Motion?

I’m speaking of the effect where when you cycle through the artwork the different pictures of the albums swivels up to front and center and then when it is scrolled past it swivels into the background to the left or right(depending on the direction of the scroll.)

Specifically I’m after the reflection in the black surface as well as the swiveling effect.

But I’m really wondering if there is a way to do this with video rather than stills and perhaps even to have the audio switch as well.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks,

    Chris

I dont think theres any effect for that look. Im pretty sure you have to animate them.
It would probably look beter if you animated it in After Effects and used expressions…you could even make it like a rolodex or something.
All your pictures should be cropped the same size too for it to look right. (like how itunes has its artwork)

I think the iTunes effect is built in Flash. You could do something like that in Motion, AE, or Combustion, but it would not be interactive.

I doubt it’s flash. Apple doesn’t use one ounce of flash on it’s website. See they have this competing tech called quicktime… 🙂

But it’s true, lots of real cool stuff on apple website, but it’s all qt or css. No flash that I can find. I figure there’s a reason. Plus, the same coverflow effect exists on the iphone and in Leopard. There’s no flash on the iPhone. 🙁

Oh yes, I’ve heard of it once or twice possibly.

ok thanks for the lead on Quartz Composer.

I have to admit I’ve never used it before. I’ve been trying to download it and it appears as though I have to download xcode? a 1 gig application file…

    is this right?

Isn’t there a plugin or template out there for motion?

    thanks

You should be able to install X Code from your Tiger install disk. It’s an optional install.
