    hi

when i want to view my footage on an external monitor i just see a the still frame where i started to play … when i stop the playback the monitor updated the still frame to where i stoped the playback … the weird thing is that it worked perfect before … but after i cleaned up my mac from scratch and reinstalled tiger and fcp it stoped working!

    i’m using fcp 5, a blackmagic decklink HD extreme, g5 dual 2.7ghz

the footage i’m editing is 720p24 .. the external monitor is a sony sd screen

even with plain ntsc footage i got the same problem!

    anybody got a solution?

    best

    Flow-

    Check View>external video>all frames.

    see if that helps

    Hi,
I’m having the same problem – I get still frames on my high def monitor at the begining and ending of the selected clip- it doesn’t display continuous video. Have tried everything – including “ALL Frames” and setting the monitor preferences with no luck.
Do you have an answer on this yet?
    Thanks,
    Sandy

Which Blackmagic Video output are you using?

    With 720/24P you should select View-Video Playback-Blackmagic HDTV 720P 59.94 – 8-bit (1280×720)

If you’re using 10-bit uncompressed, then you should change it to 10-bit instead of 8-bit.

Why not use the 23.98 setting? Because it doesn’t work that way. (It might with some monitors, but with my Sony PVM HD monitor, it doesn’t.)

I’m having the same problem! I’m using a Samsung LCD HDTV connected to my G5 via a DVI/HDMI cable. I have it set to Digital Cinema Desktop Prview-Full Screen and then hit “apple F12” for ALL FRAMES. All I get is a still of the frame I hit play on and a still of the frame that I stop on.

Now it is even doing it when I turn the LCD tv off and just use the HD Apple Cinema Display monitor.

I was able to resolve this problem by correcting the frames per second. I accidentally created the wrong fps in the sequence settings. This may be specific to my own mistake but possible of interest to anyone having this problem.
