After Effects widescreen output to avi doesn’t work
I have a widescreen (720×480) comp that I want to output to AVI. All of the comp settings seem correct and the only imported footage is a psd.
When I output to uncompressed avi and import into my editor it sees it as 4:3.How do I get AE to export the 16:9 avi correctly.

If your editor sees it as 4:3 squeezed, he/she needs to flag it as widescreen somehow in the editing app.

By editor I mean my editing application (Avid Liquid 7). I can resize the avi by changing the x-value and it will resize. But Liquid sees it as 4:3.
Are there any additional render or comp settings in AE to make this work correctly?

The problem is not AE, it’s your edit suite. Since the overall size in pixels is the same, you need to flip a switch somewhere in Liquid to make it interpret your footage as 16:9 instead of 4:3.

Look for the words “anamorphic” or “pixel-aspect”.

In Avid Express, at least, Liquid might work similarly, you right-click in the Program monitor window and choose “16:9 video.” The source and program monitors then unsqueeze the video to widescreen.
