Split Screen.
Hi guys.
I have two footage sequences that I need to parallel-edit on a split screen so that half of the screen shows one footage and the other half shows the other footage (something like in Figgis’ “Timecode”).
Does anyone know how to get the split screen on FCP?

Put one on video track one, and the other on video track two.
Double click on the first clip in video track one.
In the viewer go to the motion tab and adjust the size to what you want.

If you want a background other than black, move those two tracks you
presently have to tracks two and three, then put some other source
on track one.Render, (probably but not always).

forgot to mention two things:
1- after you size that first clip on track one, highlight the clip in the timeline
and hit copy (apple-c), you then highlight all the other clips on that track but
not the first one. Now go to edit-paste attributes and you will get a box that
asks you what you want to paste. You select basic motion. What you did was
add that size setting you made to clip one to all the clips you highlighted.
Do the same with track two.2- Instead of doing this on a clip by clip basis, you could nest your
finished full screen sequence (drag the sequence to the viewer) and then edit
the whole thing onto track one, and the other sequence, nested, onto track two.
This means you only have to make the adjustment to the size one time.Dan

For a split screen, crop is going to be more of a friend than scaling. Just put the clips on different tracks and crop and move them to taste.
