FCP HD Online procedures
Posted by Paula Stein on December 19, 2006 at 2:36 amI am needing to online a feature length documentary shot on Panasonic DVCpro50 HD tapes.
The system is set up for HD with a ASHA capture card. FCP 5.1.4 software.
The off-line was digitized standard def, 24p.
I need to get the step by step procedure for doing the online myself. Thanks for your help.Walter Biscardi replied 19 years, 5 months ago 3 Members · 5 Replies -

Do you mean AJA? Which card? Knowing which one will help us determine what your system is capable of doing.
[Paulahope] “Panasonic DVCpro50 HD tapes”
DVCPRO 50 is Standard Def, not high def. DVCPRO 100 is HD…called DVCPRO HD.

Yes…as it should be. DVCPRO 50 is a standard def format.
What do you need to output to?

Which AJA card? There are many.

What does your client want? What is your intended distribution market? Does it need to be HD?

This is where you need to hire an experienced editor who knows what to do. This is a help site to assist when you have an issue to be resolved. If you need to know how to do something from start to finish, you need to hire someone to consult or to do the work.

Or simply practice trial and error like we did with Good Eats. I spent about 6 months developing our HD workflow with the D.P. 2 years ago when there was very little useful information about HD Post out there. It took a while, but now we have a very simple HD Post workflow.
