I am searching for a plug in or function of Final Cut Pro that will allow timelapse capture over a number of days. I used to be able to do this in Adobe Premiere using their stop motion capture feature. Does FCP have such a feature? I am looking at BTV pro as it was mention in another thread from 2005. But that software was last updated in 2002 and I wonder how well it will work with current versions of FCP.

    Thanks for your help.

I know iMovie has a feature that does this. It works with any firewire camera.

When you switch to the camera input there’s a selection for time lapse capture. You can work in DV or HDV and then export it as a quicktime movie and import that into Final Cut.

    Miriam,

For time-lapse capture I use BTV Pro, which is an all-around great capture tool. Bensoftware.com I think…

    Hey,

I downloaded the 15 day trial of BTV pro and it’s great. Simple and exactly what I was looking for. I am using the GL1 but capturing in 24p. Very cool. I am also going to try some HD capture to try and match the HD camera that we will be shooting the rest of the video with. We’ll see how that goes. I like how BTV pro lets you blend/merge a series of frames for each captured frame.

    Thanks,
    Miriam

    Hey Miriam,

Yes, it’s fantastic, the timelapse feature is VERY adjustable, so depending on the length of your original and the desired result, you may want to run off a few short tests before you go through the whole tape.

    Have fun!

Also note that there are a bunch of settings for capture results, very comprehensive tool.
