How do I crop 720×480 to 720×306 / 2.35:1 ratio?
I added a 2.35 Widescreen Matte to my footage and I wanted to export it without the letterbox. But, when I created a sequence of the same settings at 720×306 (what I calculated as 2.35:1) it doesn’t crop right on, or near, where the widescreen masks the footage and leaves thin black bars that look about 15 pixels tall. When I tried adjusting the settings in the sequence a few pixels at a time, it just kept pushing the thin bars further in. Suggestions?

You are trying to crop in FCP, or are you trying to crop a resulting export?

Nevermind, I reread your post more throughly this time. So you you are trying to to export a Quicktime movie without the letterbox and you are using FCP to do the encode? What I would do, is export a reference movie out to compressor, and then do your cropping and encoding there.

from FCP, Export > Using Compressor…
in the Compressor app you will be able to adjust the settings, and see exactly how it will affect the ouput, using a live spilt screen view showing both source and target -
Meaning, I want it to use the exact same settings but just crop it. When I export to compressor, it seems like I have to reset everything.
