  Help with Cinema Tools and Final Cut digitizing. Shot super 16mm to end up in HD.

  Hello everyone.

  I’m trying to help a colleague out that has a project that was shot in super 16 and in telecine, transferred to DVCAM tapes. In the telecine process, they did not put a visual burn-in (not sure why he did that!)so it’s essential that Final Cut sees the key number & timecode info. His ultimate goal is to have the project finished in HD as well as on digibeta. Any advice in what needs to be done?

  I have the telecine files and using Final Cut 5. Do I have to import the telecine files first in Cinema Tools? I have never done this before.

  And I’m thinking since it was shot on 16 mm and finishing in HD, should I be cutting in 24fps?

  I’m also going to have to sync sound in Final Cut.

  When I create a new database in Cinema Tools, it prompts me to choose some settings- do these sound right…16mm 20, Video Frame Rate 24FPS, Sound TC rate 24fps, TK Speed 24????
  Do these settings matter or when I import the Flex files, will it automatically correct itself?

  After the import in Cinema Tools- do I export a “batch capture” in order to open that in Final Cut and digitize?

  I’m so lost so any help is much appreciated. Thanks so much in advance!
