Convert 25 to 23.98 in Compressor??
Posted by Mark Linthicum on June 8, 2006 at 6:12 pmI am using Compressor to go from HD50i to SD 24p with great results but I have a problem with getting to 23.98, does any one know if this is possible?
In the inspector next to video I select settings and the only option is 24 there is no 23.98.

June 8, 2006 at 6:24 pmI just tried it. In the inspector (using the 8-bit Uncompressed Codec), I click Video Settings…in the resulting window, I go to the pulldown menu for frame rate and at the bottom I see “Custom”…you can set it whatever you like.

Oh, the hidden custom option right there in front of my face!
Thanks, Mark

Also try conforming the timebase of the clip in Cinema Tools
Convert 25 to 23.98 In Cinema Tools
file > open ” master 25p” File
select “Conform” button
Choose 23.98
Save.
(it works the opposite way too)

June 8, 2006 at 8:08 pmFWIW….The last time I tried something like this in Cinema Tools, it changed the sample rate of the audio to an unusual rate, presumably to keep the audio in sync. I had to render to use it in FCP. Using the Compressor method resulted in a file with a standard sample rate with perfect sync.
