    Hello all:

Got a project with lots of versions and want to clear out old unused media. Can anyone familiar with AVID’s ‘Select Unreferenced Clips’ walk me through a similar procedure in FCP 5.0.4? Thanks in advance.

ok, i did this the other day, you go to edit, find, and than one of the options is find all un used clips, u can grab tehm all, and there will be a button that says delete all

now i don’t have fcp open but thats what i believe is the course of action

check your helpfiles for more details

what I do is to delete clips one by one. When a clip is used in a sequence, FCP will pop up a dialog saying the the clip is a Masterclip and blah blah. Hit cancel. If it’s not used in any sequence, it will be deleted without any warning.

Of course, if you have thousands of clips, this will be a pain…
