UPGRADING EDITING DECK NEED ADVICE
I am planning to upgrade my editing system to a VTR and for color correction.
98% of my work is done in mini DVCAM, however, I am embarking on a DV Feature Post Production.
My output for clients is DVD and internet streaming but I would say that I need to be able to expand my editing suite for primary and secondary color correction? My System is a:
G5
Dual 2GHz
4.5GHz RAM
ATI Radeon 9800 PRO Dual Monitor
150 GB/400GB Internal drives
FW 800 RAID 1 TB
FW 160GB
FW 300GB
2 Sony PD-150s
DVX-100PI am looking at two monitors:
Sony PVM-24L1 14″ https://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=cart&A=details&Q=&sku=376645&is=DEMO
JVC TMH-150CGU 15″ https://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=WishList.jsp&A=details&Q=&sku=319818&is=REGI am also considering the following VTRs
Sony DSR-11 https://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=WishList.jsp&A=details&Q=&sku=212935&is=REG
Sony DSR-25 https://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=WishList.jsp&A=details&Q=&sku=249563&is=REG
Sony DSR-45A https://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=WishList.jsp&A=details&Q=&sku=417711&is=REGI can get a y/c signal off the Radeon card for the broadcast monitor, but I am confused about the benefits of a capture card sending the signal out to the broadcast monitor.
Will this give a better signal for color correction?
Also, are there added benefits in capturing 4:1:1 with a 4:2:2 capture card that would clean up the DV media?
If so, do I need to upgrade to SDI or will the composites on the Capture card be enough?
