  Capture Now borken?

  OS 10.3.9, FCP HD 4.5

  Capture Now is limited to 32 minutes, but FCP is still reserving filespace out to the entire drive. I do the capture, and then wait for the beach ball to come off, which sometimes is taking longer than the duration of the actual capturing!

  After the capture, and while I wait for the beach ball to go away, I can see this

  If I’ve limited Capture Now to 32 minutes, why is there a “Filename-av-7”. 32 minutes should be ~ 7 GB, or at the most 4 AV files limited to 2 GB each. What’s going on?

  Yes, I’ve trashed prefs, and run DiskWarrior on the capture drive, which is an internal IDE with over 30 GB of free space. Any ideas?

  How is the drive you are capturing to formatted?

  Have you repaired permissions lately?

  Do you have Virex installed? That causes issues too.

  No, Debe’s right I bet. Your drive is not initialized properly. You’ll need to use Disk Utility and rewipe that drive. Ummm, I betcha it’s a brand-spankin’-new FireWire drive, no? Any NEW drive MUST be re-initialized regardless of what is says on the box about being Mac friendly.
