BlackMagic Speed Test Error
Good day.
I recently picked up a Mac G5 PCI-X 2.3 system. I installed a Decklink SP card plus 4 250gb 8 cache Maxtor SATA drives all plugged into a Sonnet tempo x 4×4 card in the 133 slot. When I followed the disk utility set up for a striped raid0 mac os extended (journaled) the “slices” show up on my desk top as one drive with a 930.79 GB capacity.
All seems fine. I transfered over my project files and all show up and FCP 5 seems to run fine. I had originally captured the footage from Betacam SP over to BlackMagic NTSC DV codec as I first was on the internal 400 GB drive prior to adding the internal raid. Now with the raid installed and mounted, I’ve switched All settings over to 10 bit NTSC. That’s some background.
Now when I decided to run BlackMagic Speed Test the first go at it gave me the spinning pin wheel of death for about 15 mins or so ( until I got fed up) and I did a force quit. I then tested the HD and that took only seconds, so I tried the raid again and I get “DISK ERROR Could not run disk test” with no options or available additional info to be found.
I admit that I’m quite new to all this, previously I had used an Avid ABVB9000 AVR77, which either worked or it didn’t. It seems this FCP is a bit more complicated, but then again – I’m easly distracted by shiny objects.
Any thoughts or help regarding this issue (I’m working on the shiny objects one on my own) would be great.Cheers
Tom
