  DVCProHD to a analog HD monitor via 1394

  so you have your edit system of choice, you capture your DVCProHD material thru your firewire port and you would like to monitor it on your existing HD monitor with either analog component HD or HD SDI
  both the convergent and miranda converter box will only accept HDV inputs- anyone seen any other solutions? thanks in advance

  Route thru your 1200HD deck. That is the ONLY way to view via firewire. All other solutions require either an HD capture card (optimal) or to route a signal from a DVI connection from your graphics card to a DVI>HD/SDI converter box using Digital Cinema Desktop (less than optimal).

  the bummer side of this solution is that the 1200A with the input set to 1394, the HD-sdi and analog component HD output flickers like crazy
  panasonic notes this in the 1200A docs and, so far, has no plans to fix this
  of course the real solution is a kona card

  Yep, that’s what I do. I monitor all HD and DVCPro HD via my Kona 2 card. I love the 1200A, but there are some limitations you need to work with.
