  fade in fade out disolve

  Hi,

  I am new to Final Cut Pro and I am having a problem with the fade in fade out disolve. I am using Final Cut Pro 5 HD, and the problem that I am having is that when applying a fade in fade out disolve to the end of a clip it works fine, however when applying it to the beginning I can only add one frame? If anyone can help I will be extremely grateful.

  If you are trying to add a DISSOLVE…

  (do not use the “Fade-In/Fade-Out” Filter at the HEAD of a timeline or section, unless you have a very specific “need” for it)

  you need the clip to have enough “extra” footage so that the dissolve has the frames that it needs to “mix”.

  At the HEAD of a clip (coming from BLACK) you could change the Dissolve to “Start on Edit” if there not enough “pre-clip handle” frames for “End on Edit” or “Center on Edit” to work.
