Wondering if anyone has experience with the Sony DSR-25. My source tapes are from a two-camera shoot – Canon XL2s. Tapes from one camera play back just fine in the DSR-25. However, the DSR-25 sees the tapes from the other camera as DVCam. The resulting playback looks like the heads are dirty – pixelation and tearing.

Has anyone else seen this? I’d put a post into the Sony DV forum, but it doesn’t look like anyone has been there for days.

    Thanks

Have you tried playing the offending tape back in any other deck to make sure there’s no problem with the tape? Also, have you checked to see if the DSR has any menu function that allows you to force the deck to playback in DV or DVCAM regardless of the what it thinks the tape format is?

    All the best,
