Random Undo Question
Not that I ever make mistakes or anything, but…
I’m still using FCP 4.5, and I was wondering if they had started defining your ‘undo’ queue in FCP 5? It’s one of the things that I miss most from the Avid days; the ability to open my undo queue and hop straight back to wherever I wanted to be. Hitting command-z a bunch of times works okay, but I miss being able to jump directly back to, say, the point at which I slid things out of synch by mistake seventeen edits ago doing an ill-advised ‘trim’ edit.
A) Is there a way to see my undo queue in FCP 4.5?
B) Did they add one in FCP 5?
I know Livetype keeps track of what you’ve done, to the extent that your ‘undo’ option at least says something like “undo typing” or “undo value change” or whatever. Even that would be a handy feature in FCP. I’d like to know what I’m about to eradicate if I hit command-Z several times.

I miss that too from my old avid days… but alas, FCP 5 is the same as 4.5 in this regard, and there is no way I know of to do this but you can undo then redo if that helps.

Ha! Thanks for a good laugh man. Well said indeed.
Remember to also set how many levels of undo (up to 99 I believe) you have in user preferences. What’s worse than not having an undo cue? Running out of undoos.
